Company History
South Services (Thailand) Co., Ltd. (SST) (previous name South Thailand Shipping Services Co., Ltd.- STSS) was established in Phuket Thailand on 05 April, 1966 to co-ordinate shipments of tin ingots and tin slag from Thailand Smelting and Refining Co., Ltd., Phuket (Thaisarco), as well as mineral ores and rubber, from local shippers to USA, Europe and Far East destinations, acting as agent for numerous conventional break bulk carriers loading and discharging by lighters,We also acting as agent for local oil tankers discharging diesel oil, gasoline and aviation fuel at moorings at Ao Kham to Shell and Esso depots there now replaced by Thai Petroleum Co., Ltd. (PTT) using their own jetty and depot at Ao Makham.
After construction of Phuket Port was completed in December 1989, the company also handled container feeder vessels, latex bulk carriers, as well as cruise vessels and tugs & barges both at Phuket Port and various anchorages, between Ranong and Tarutao as well as Ko Samui, Ko Pha-ngan and Ang Thong Islands.
From the beginning SST also acted as customs broker and forwarding agent for import of machinery, equipment, spare parts and anthracite coal for Thaisarco, and Thailand Exploration & Mining Co., Ltd. (TEMCO) as well as handling customs formalities for shippers of export cargo mentioned above
In 1992 our activities expanded to cover Travel business mainly Ticketing both Domestic and overseas as an approved agent of IATA, and also representing several other airlines including low cost carriers and selling tour packages both Domestic and International supplemented by application for visa to foreign countries, Thai passport, and hotel reservation as well as acting as Air freight forwarding agent.
